A Florida decide on Wednesday struck down a portion of a redistricting map drawn by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and his employees.
Driving the news: "I'm discovering that the enacted map is unconstitutional underneath the Honest District modification ... as a result of it diminishes African Individuals' capability to elect the representatives of their alternative," Leon County Circuit Decide Layne Smith said.
Smith is expected to issue a formal order on Thursday or Friday to make sure that the maps usually are not in impact during November's election, AP studies.Why it matters: DeSantis' plan dismantles the North Florida seat now held by a Black Democrat.
