Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel higher about the path of our country."

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."
"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied along with your country, you let or not it's identified through protest. The home of the courageous should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action against gun violence in the United States.Kerr refused to talk about basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"Within the final 10 days, we've had elderly Black individuals killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got kids murdered at college," Kerr told reporters at first of the press convention.
"When are we going to do one thing? I'm drained. I am so bored with getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated households which can be on the market ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Sufficient."
